The Ugliest Gibson Les Paul - The Dusk Tiger

Is this possibly the ugliest Les Paul you can find?  Why yes, it is.  We’ve been checking out Gibson’s notes since the end of 2009 when the legendary guitar maker announced that it would make 1000 of these axes.

Even the user ratings on the Gibson website are astonishing and outright controversial.  As for style, everybody thinks the pick guard is hideous.  No, really.  Hideous.  You’ve got to sort of admit that there’s something off about it.  No one would disagree with you if you thought the Les Paul product team was thinking of a Star Trek idea (after all this is the next generation of Robot Technologies).  Will we see the William Shatner signature model anytime soon?  Let’s hope not.

The real problem is that I (nor anyone I know) don’t know anybody who owns one.  I haven’t seen one even at Steve’s downtown (Steve’s Music – landmark Montreal shop).

At a MSRP of US $4128 I’m not surprised.  Nonetheless, here are the specifications if you’re interested:

While some say it’s heavy, Gibson says it weighs 5.44 lbs.  It’s made from marblewood-and-ebony cap and mahogany body with Tiger Skin nitrocellulose finish.  The pickups are Burst Bucker 3 in the bridge (uses a Alnico 2 bar magnet), P-90H rhythm in the neck position (uses two Alnico 5 magnets) and there’s a piezo bridge.

Comes with Gibson strings .10.  Read more at Gibson.com

Sure, but if you read through the reviews, the people who try them like them. Now one could wait for the next version which will be more traditional in appearance or you can get the same sound now at a nice discount because anything but sunburst just wont do
